Transhumant Creole Goats in Argentine Patagonia are managed extensively across contrasting seasonal environments, where they may face nutritional and reproductive challenges. The aim of this study was to evaluate changes in live weight (LW), body condition score (BCS), and reproductive efficiency in transhumant Creole Goats in relation to seasonal pasture conditions and climatic variability. Creole goat herds were monitored over three consecutive years (2010–2012), with the number of mated does varying annually between 201 and 248 animals (216, 248, and 201 does, respectively). Mean doe age was 36 months, and mean live weight was 41.9 ± 0.6 kg. LW and BCS were recorded five times per year, and pregnancy was diagnosed annually by ultrasonography between 95 and 110 days post-mating. Reproductive rates were determined at the end of each kidding season. Climatic data, including temperature, precipitation anomalies, and the Standardized Precipitation Index, were obtained from the ERA5-Land dataset. LW and BCS improved during summer grazing but declined markedly during winter grazing and late pregnancy, particularly in 2010. Pregnancy rates were 93%, 97%, and 97% in 2010, 2011, and 2012, respectively, while fetal losses were 46%, 34%, and 35%. In 2010, severe drought and below-average winter temperatures were recorded, coinciding with the most pronounced declines in LW and BCS and the highest fetal loss. Seasonal nutritional stress during winter grazing in Patagonian rangelands negatively affects reproductive outcomes in transhumant Creole Goats, particularly under extreme climatic conditions. Improving adaptive strategies, such as targeted supplementation and early warning systems, may enhance resilience and productivity in transhumant production systems.
